Clinical Fellow required to work in PICU in Liverpool, UK
Clinical fellow required for PICU from February 2010 for 6 months with the possibility of extending this further. Applications are invited from those with a Paediatric or Anaesthetic or Emergency Medicine background. Neonatal experience would be desirable.
The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is a busy 23 bedded unit. It is a designated PICU lead centre, capable of providing care to the most acutely ill child (level 4) in the North West of England. The PICU treats over 1000 children per year and is one of the largest PICUs in Europe. Approximately half the admissions are elective (post surgical) and the remainder are emergency admissions. Children aged from newborn to 16 years (sometimes older) are treated from all specialities including cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, oncology, trauma, burns and other medical emergencies.
Training opportunities include retrieval and stabilisation of critically ill children within the region, clinical experience in the management of a broad range of critically illnesses in paediatrics, research/audit and there is structured in-house teaching programmes.
