International Pediatric Intensive Care Nursing Network - IPICNN

In 1996, at the 2nd World Congress on Pediatric Intensive Care in Rotterdam, Wil de Groot-Bolluijt (Netherlands), Patricia Moloney-Harmon(US) and Franco Carnevale (Canada) inaugurated the International Pediatric Intensive Care Nursing Network (IPICNN).
This Network would be devoted to promoting cross-national dialogue, collaboration and the promotion of PICU nursing.

IPICNN held a nursing meeting at the 3rd World Congress on Pediatric Intensive Care in Montréal 2000, at which it was decided that a means to further enhance dialogue should be created: PICU-Nurse-International was therefore created (an official egroup of IPICNN). Soon after, IPICNN created our international PICU nursing newsletter: Journal of Pediatric Intensive Care Nursing

Finally, at the Boston Congress 2003 an International Pediatric Intensive Care Nursing Association was created.

The Association can
(a) take official positions on important nursing issues,
     and collaborate with other bodies (such as WFPICCS,
     the World Federation of Critical Care Nurses,
     or the International Council of Nurses);
(b) promote educational/research activities and publications;
(c) support nurses caring for critically ill children in disadvantaged
     regions of the world; among others.

Our Journal is an official publication of this Association. However, the operational specifics of the Association are currently being worked out and there was a unanimous decision taken in Boston such work should be undertaken through a consultation with the international PICU nursing community that we have access to with this egroup.

Congratulations to us all for this exciting development of OUR new
Association!!!
